Officers are searching for a woman who was reportedly attacked after being dragged back inside a car as she tried to leave. Police say they are ‘extremely concerned’ for the woman’s safety following an incident in Stockport on Saturday morning (December 28).
Greater Manchester Police received a report of a woman trying to leave a dark coloured hatchback car at the junction of Rostherne Road and Garners Lane. She was then reportedly dragged back inside the vehicle and assaulted.
The car was last seen shortly after 6.30am on Saturday, heading towards Davenport railway station. GMP has issued two CCTV images from the scene and two descriptions, for the woman and the driver, as they try to piece together what happened.
The woman is described as being white, wearing dark coloured leggings and UGG boots. The driver is described as a white man wearing a black coat or jumper.
Police say it’s possible the car may have travelled outside of Greater Manchester, and they have so far been unable to track the occupants down. A force spokesperson added: “Our utmost priority is to locate the occupants and ensure the woman is safe.”

At the centre of this is potentially a woman who is in need or urgent safeguarding or medical care, and we need to locate her as soon as possible.”
